Title: Hughley

Eric had served on the front line as a soldier in the First World War and had thankfully survived. On the 3rd of September 1939, Great Britain declared war on Germany in opposition to their invasion of Poland (the Second World War) and so Eric must have known that his two sons would eventually be embroiled. And so it was: one stationed as a storeman in Singapore, the other a signalman with a tank division that went across the Channel into France and then into Germany itself. This is a sketch that Eric made a few months after war was declared for the second time: who knows the worry that he may have had about the future of his country, and particularly about his two sons, as he sketched this picture.
